A pure idea to refresh the new day
Tepid sips off the scalding coffee urn
Molding a thought to quietly display
Translating emotion; an implicit admission
Each worthy of their own silent moment
Stretching ink in all the right positions
The journey of imagination with delicious intent
We’re bound by structure of time
Not by the limits of exterior insensitivity
You’re worthy of forgiving yourself
Released from a lifetime of captivity
I do not deserve you
Just not a worthy guy
Though I’m loyal & I’m true
& full of love you might want to try
I’m sitting here morose
Reading pages & thumbing my nose
Bored by the status quo
Breaking off from the path we chose
I’m searching for a worthy woman
To take by the waist & forever dance
Who desires to explore love
& live by the seat of her underpants
With a patriot’s heart & a skeptical view
A tentative belief in those on marble steps
I ask to show me your heroes
But knowing exterior appeasement is false
Honoring the Flag doesn’t equate
To praising those who run the State
Knowing by virtue of appearing on a ballot
They’re not worthy
