Sitting here dissenting all forms of gov’t Looking for answers in these coffee grounds Uncovering more & more hatred, with less hope These political ovations do nothing but compound
Society has gone astray, Jesus take the wheel We’re all being watched by a perched black bird Incoherent shrieks & mumbles of “Nevermore” Universities stacked with all the quotes they misheard
Where are the heroes to protect democracy of the republic In the wake of fraudulent saints & a presidential pretender We must devise a prophecy to overtake our future Lady Liberty’s hem is ablaze; with no elder statesmen to defend her
We’re led by fools, fractures & frauds Finding ourselves at crossroads armed like Checkpoint Charlie History won’t be kind to the weak or evil all the same Needing a guardian like Justice Ginsburg on a Harley
I’m raising a small army of Lost Girls Feminist soldiers marching – in all but the name Seeking love, peace & equality for all the people Hindering harmony will leave you squarely to blame
We all have our differing loyalties But truth will prevail when time comes to an end Our trials will be but mere footnotes to antiquity Faceless angels guiding youth; they shall forever be a friend
You didn’t sell out, you bought in At least that’s what you regurgitate But you, yourself, are a cog in the machine Grinding out this state sponsored hate You speak of crying in the streets Heartbroken your flavor of evil didn’t win But it’s a system of corruption throughout With each career politician speaking the sin Where did all our heroes & leaders go Driven out as the bureaucracy multiplies Buried the truth in all that paperwork We’re doomed unless the people rise Against these manufactured lies
“I’m tired, people. I’m tired of everything. I’m tired of hate. I’m tired of politics.
I’m tired of living behind an eyepatch because I need to protect my family.
I’m tired of aggressive misappropriations. I’m tired of zealots. I’m tired of ignorance leading the day. I’m tired of stupid people having really stupid opinions.
This world is going to hell & I don’t want to go for that ride.
We’ve backed ourselves into a corner & now we can only choose evil. It’s heartbreaking & stressful.
Those who know me know that I haven’t been myself lately.
This is a dark period for our society. We will not look back on this time fondly. There is a lot of pain out there.
If you do not condemn the hate, then you are accepting it. Love is not enough. It is not us & them. This is agendas. This is the media choosing what they want to tell the public to support their own ideals.
Take a moment to decide how you want to live your life.
I choose to not be part of any group. I do not represent anyone outside of myself. I am me. Judge me for my own actions.
I will do my best to honor you in the same fashion.”
I wrote this in the fall of 2016. We have changed nothing since then. We still are choosing political parties and special interest groups over our children and neighbors. What will it take for us to learn?
I’m tired of all the mouthpieces & talking heads
I don’t trust anything on the network news
Congress & corporations are intertwined
Aimed at denying our dreams if they could choose
But I’m not going to buy into their systems
I’m not going to line up for them to call me by name
We have to figure out a better way
Or we’ll all be taken under by institutionalized shame
I don’t want to live in a world propelled by evil
I believe this hateful environment is only getting hotter
Can we not treat our neighbors as equals
What kind of world are we leaving for our daughters?
The world is burning around us So much hate & confusion in the crowd Misdirection & a body of lies Truth has no relation to just how loud Don’t know if you can trust anyone these days But I refuse to remain ignorant anymore Shutting out all their aggressions Returning to peace with the click of my door
Let us focus on love Expel their notions of hate I won’t let them affect me I’ll set the standards for my fate This life won’t last forever The glories in Heaven surely await But for now, I’m going to be compassionate To take care of the people – HOPE we’ll create
I’m tired, weary, fatigued, however you want to call it
This world is tearing itself apart, with no end in sight
Neighbors can’t stand the appearance of each other
If we don’t swerve, we’re all going to face the fiery night
Reject hate, reject them, reject the world’s system
I don’t care if kindness long ago went out of fashion
Don’t accept your options, make your own way
We need return to art, return to love & compassion
‘They’ are anyone who’ll tell you we can’t survive
Without stooping down to unconscionable degrees
Rebel, refuse & reclaim enlightenment & love
Lead ourselves away from their dysfunctional societies
God reserves a place in Hell for those who spout hate
Whether you believe in Christ or what Buddha taught
Love doesn’t see the differences between us
We can do better; a peaceful way must be sought
Politicians are no more than door to door salesmen
Fraudulent purveyors of the American dreamscape
But we, the silent underground, emerging each day
Fed up with their vision, proof that heroes don’t wear capes
Sheep in wolves’ clothing
Alone in the natural spirals
A delicate peace teetering
In a time when hate’s gone viral
A profound wilderness
With the Shepherd long forsaken
Truth & reason at risk
With Faith’s foundations shaken
Does compassion still exist
Love faltering/dreams now monochrome
The Devil removing his mask
Once he’s comfortably at home
The indoctrination is complete They molded you just right Removing the will to struggle Stripping you of the desire to fight You work for them these days A concise, common goal Gone are the thoughts of freedom An iron fist smashing your soul No longer an individual Lost all your character traits You belong to the system now Let your bones fill with hate
Let the people think Let them act for their own good To choose their lives What’s best for their neighborhood Stop your agenda of hate Stop this aim of shame Most have never wronged anyone This is real life, not a political game Take your proclamations & shove them in your fancy tote Go back to from where you came & don’t tell us how to vote
You’re holding expectations Needing me to be a better guy Wishing I was more successful Hating my truth; you’d prefer a lie So I wander within my own skin To become what you want in a man Each day, I’m ever more the pirate Soon, they’re be no more Peter Pan
