We were brave to love that way

Feeding page after page into the typewriter
I feel like a Saint from a forgotten realm They could really write back then Keeping an even keel with one hand on the helm I’m not the pirate you bargained for Simple words of varying degrees I write of the love you’ve desired But when I only smile, you call me a tease

Spread stance, with a mock salute
Whispering; describing her desires
Soon, I hope she won’t be so mute
Passion of an fantastical nature
Possibly seeming like it’s unreal
Motioning me to come forth
Promises of a love I can feel
Building to a palpable potency
A tangible form of bemused intrigue
Charmed to dizzying arousal
Winding to a whirlwind fatigue
With which note to thoroughly enchant
Steps so sure that time cannot lapse
A smirk; mouthing words to erupt
But knowing I’ll finally leave her unclasped Like this: Like Loading...

Watching the condensation seep into the desk
I think of the glories that have gone away The ice melting/mixing into my single malt I’ve been nervous, but I’m okay by the end of the day
These days weren’t the ones we’ve been dreaming of
Idealistic thoughts when we were on foreign shores Imagining celebrities dancing in their formalwear Fancy & festive role models displayed forevermore
Upon the big screen & locked into our minds
Americana lost & the golden age of Hollywood Stoking the passion of our fervid imaginations Inspiring our dreams like nothing else ever could
Our hopes & desires abandoned & hung out to dry
March realizations our fantasies are mere celluloid The cold night, withering on the streets alone Upon the credits, leaving the theater broke & into the void Like this: Like Loading...

A pitch black morning
Lightning out in the stratosphere
Sharpening thy tongue
Sunrise the only thing we fear
Deflecting unwanted attention
Desiring space, but not too much
Pulling love from the cosmos
Daybreak; yet further out of touch Like this: Like Loading...
It was a one-eyed kind of morn
With evening’s festivities going awry I scrawled out all I could remember Once a gentleman, turned drunken guy
Slight images of a lovely form
Olfactory sparks upon my brain Sketching the party’s guest list But no new faces could remain
Racking my skull for a proper memory
Writing down every & each detail Compiling a list to rediscover I’m trying to think, but it’s to no avail
A faceless gown with affectionate gloves
Somehow my mind is able to recall Cognitive fragments begin to linger Clouded out by last night’s alcohol
Scenes slowly begin to return
I believe we’re out on the dance floor An embrace of smoldering desire Yet I couldn’t figure out any more
Scraps of notes spread before me
No identity to place upon the truth Scant reason to be shy in my search Basking in honesty of my lapsed youth
Cobwebs have been sparsely lifted
Won’t think of her in the past tense Her ghostly touch encourages me yet We shall meet again, I firmly sense
To hold her with determined spirit
Seems fantastical at this sad rate Yet she’s left fingerprints upon me Remaining until I succumb to my fate Like this: Like Loading...

I may not be anything to write home about
You have standards, expectations & desire Those are mostly all good & dandy But it doesn’t account for imagination like wildfire
You once made a list, checking guys off
You’re a handsome lady, playing it as cool as ice I might be a possible misstep in your plans But I do know a guy like me doesn’t come around twice Like this: Like Loading...

Knowing the beauty that lurks
Though she’s hidden by the shroud
Draped by the promisingly sheer veneer
Whispering taunts, teases & getting loud
I hear the excitement in her voice
Grasping for control – keeping it steady
My passion & desire suddenly obvious
My world brightens when she’s ready Like this: Like Loading...
I know you don’t want to be looked upon
But I can’t help keeping your beauty in view
You feel self-conscious
Though I’m whole heartedly in love with you
Please do not hinder my sight
I want you to always be at my side
You’re the nearest thing to perfection
I’ll be devastated if you run off & hide Like this: Like Loading...

A finger to my lips
Fixated on your secrets encased Knowing the enchanting stories You’re upon what fairytales are based
Remaining silent with restraint
For that is your required desire Locked into your heavenly eyes Nothing greater than stoking your primal fire Like this: Like Loading...
Perfection laid out on satin sheets
Beauty dripping away piece by piece
Every dream slipped right through
Life & loss masked by laughing creases
He said you were everything he desired
Burning deep in his soul, but you refused
Moving too fast to stop & notice him
Yet you cry foul, saying you were abused
The sun rises no matter who is pained
Recall broken hearts when you’re the cause
Plump out your pretty pink lips
In the quiet of night, please retract your claws
Calm thyself, you know your own heart
Time to realize you’re the fatal flaw Like this: Like Loading...
Searching cavernous souls
Racking what I might believe
Splitting hairs of fragrant
Ideas wandering down my sleeve
But I’m not more righteous
Than the boys down on the beat
I’m flawed, sensitive – prone to anger
Stuck in a commuting rut; weakly on repeat
There’s quiet secret I might contain
Love & passion bubbling just beneath my skin
I think in poetry, but you desire a hero
Can’t compete with expectations; our mutual chagrin Like this: Like Loading...
I reject most of society’s notions
With no desire to live by the sword
I feel no need to prove myself
I shall put eternal trust in my Lord
I follow my own path these days

Waking up, smelling of love
Sore & stiff from our imaginations A late night of enlightened feelings Letting moans be our primal narration
Accompanied by jazzy tones & chilled wine

A picture postcard perfect appearance
Modest, yet smoldering beauty beneath A festive spirit expounding – Winter’s tales Out singing carols & hanging a wreath
But once you come home for the day
Put on those hooker lips & pirate boots Time to release your animalistic desire Tired of being demure & a little too cute

Passion failing all around me
We’re all exposed on the battleground Hearts breaking wide open Sketchy footing, leaving the night unsound
Cautiously looking out into the world
I’m safely behind doors & my windowpane A vicious society who always destroys Forcing love to wither & die in vain
Cherishing the woman I’ll forever desire
Who wears my great-grandmother’s ring Upon us to ensure it doesn’t happen here With her in my arms, I’ll always I’ll cling Like this: Like Loading...

A palpable desire
Feeling it from deep within
Drowning my anxiety
Beneath 4 olives, vermouth & gin
Supposed to be a functioning adult
But I say bollocks to all that noise
It wasn’t all that long ago, still
Running the streets with the boys
Though I dress better now
The soul leaking through the cracks
My heart is a fragile commodity
Foreboding the oncoming attack Like this: Like Loading...

Pouring a tall wine in the fine crystal

A wink from her to get my heart a-revving
Her pink negligee hanging below her knee
Soft skin turns into hardened intentions
The promise of a night of debauchery
A bouquet not desired, but a single bloom
Visions of adulation thoroughly taut
I’m rigidly attuned with her frequency
A fine suited man removing a Windsor knot
Fastened to my bedpost; a sailor can surely tie
Settling down with this libertine, methinks
A pretty picture of a delicious woman
Purely polished reflections in my cufflinks
Post coital; passion overflowing this room
Perfection amid people imperfectly real
Precious moments that I’ll never forsake
My woman’s love, allowing me to constantly heal

I want to know the secrets
The ones you have buried deep within I want you to whisper your love Kiss me so long they’ll think it’s a sin
Running away from sunsets & goodbyes
Feeling the lead of stained windowpanes These houses don’t hold strained memories Washed away in the softening of Winter’s rain
I’m freely exposed in these dimmer days
