Sundown Brings On The Reduced Heat

Sundown brings on the reduced heat
Wind whispering to sail with the tides
Vapors tread quietly upon the feet
Decisions enter & thoroughly abide

Lonely bird settles down on the rails
Experience brings on a sullen glow
We cannot escape when life fails
Currents grip & provide the undertow

I Often Catch Myself

I often catch myself

Glancing up at your windowpane

Occasionally seeing a silhouette

Memories of youth still remain

Possibly spying a lacy chemise

But now you’re wearing the curtains

Or maybe there was nothing on

But I couldn’t know for certain

The morning light not quite seen

I might feel like a common creeper

Alternate lifetimes in my mind

Yet I know you’d still be a keeper

I see your beautiful soul hiding

That passionate soul now a mere outline

Locked away in your precious life

I’m sure you’d say you’re ‘doing fine’

Possibly spying a lacy chemise

But now you’re wearing the curtains

Or maybe there was nothing

But I couldn’t know for certain

I see boundaries in your thought

I’m not intending to be rude

You can make your own decisions

I don’t wish to trespass nor intrude

You’re the princess in your castle

Not a figment of my invention

Locked eyes before you look away

Somehow grateful for the attention

There Are Many Fancy Writers

There are many fancy writers

Those who are great, they’ve decided

Elegant illustrations & plunging necklines

But hubris is often one-sided

There are many arrogant writers

Quick with the wit they’ve decried

Moans of pain suited to their fame

Loving with one eye open it’s often implied

Chasing Time Down A Rabbit’s Hole

Chasing time down a rabbit’s hole

Knowing there’s no way to go on back

Don’t look that way, it’s a mirage

Ghosts aren’t known to be tracked

But we seldom heed our own advice

Reason vanished into our past decisions

Demons try to cling, but they don’t exist

For these antiquated memories are mere apparitions
